El I Congreso Internacional de Restauración Minera (CIREM), que se celebrará del 24 al 26 de noviembre de 2026 en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, avanza en su organización y afronta una etapa decisiva para configurar su programa técnico y consolidar el apoyo del sector. Impulsado por la Red de Restauración de Minas y Canteras (RMC), CIREM continúa sumando participación y respaldo institucional y empresarial, con tres hitos clave actualmente en marcha: la llamada a artículos, la apertura de inscripciones con tarifa reducida y el programa oficial de patrocinios.
Tras el lanzamiento de la web oficial del Congreso, que centraliza la información clave del evento, el Comité Organizador del Congreso trabaja en la consecución de apoyos para avanzar en la configuración de un programa atractivo y alineado con las necesidades del sector que refleje los retos técnicos, normativos y sociales que condicionan el desempeño de la restauración en el siglo XXI.
CIREM persigue una misión clara: construir, entre todos, una restauración minera más eficaz, innovadora y alineada con la naturaleza, fortaleciendo la colaboración entre agentes y elevando el estándar técnico del sector.
El Comité Científico mantiene abierto el plazo para la recepción de comunicaciones hasta el 26 de marzo de 2026.
Profesionales, investigadores, universidades, empresas y administraciones públicas están invitados a presentar trabajos técnicos, estudios, proyectos, casos prácticos y experiencias aplicadas que contribuyan a elevar el estándar de la restauración minera.
Las propuestas pueden enmarcarse en seis grandes áreas temáticas:
- Cierres mineros, gobernanza y valorización de espacios post-mineros
- Restauración ecológica en minería
- Diseño geomorfológico, estabilidad del terreno e hidrología
- Gestión del agua, suelo y remediación geoquímica
- Revegetación, restauración pasiva y buenas prácticas en Red Natura 2000
- Innovación, tecnología y digitalización
Los trabajos, proyectos, estudios, casos prácticos y experiencias relacionadas con la restauración minera que quieran ser compartidos, serán evaluados por el Comité Científico y estos conformarán el grueso del programa del Congreso que, con carácter general, se presentarán en formato oral.
“Queremos un programa construido por y para el sector: con evidencia, con lecciones aprendidas y con soluciones que puedan escalarse. Este “Call for Speakers” es una invitación a compartir lo que funciona y a elevar el estándar técnico de la restauración minera”, señala Javier de la Villa, presidente de RMC.

Inscripción temprana abierta con tarifas reducidas
CIREM ha abierto también el plazo de inscripción temprana, que permite a los asistentes beneficiarse de tarifas reducidas. Esta modalidad ofrece condiciones económicas ventajosas para profesionales, empresas, investigadores y estudiantes que formalicen su participación con antelación, facilitando la planificación y garantizando su presencia en el principal encuentro internacional sobre restauración minera que se celebrará por primera vez en España.

CIREM gathers support to drive more effective, nature-aligned mining restoration
The 1st International Congress on Mining Restoration (CIREM), to be held from 24 to 26 November 2026 at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), is moving forward with its organisation and is entering a decisive stage in shaping its technical programme and consolidating support from the sector. Driven by the Mine and Quarry Restoration Network (RMC), CIREM continues to build participation and institutional and business backing, with three key milestones currently underway: the call for papers, the opening of registrations with a reduced fee, and the official sponsorship programme.
Following the launch of the official Congress website, which centralises key information about the event, the Congress Organising Committee is working to secure support in order to advance the development of an attractive programme aligned with the needs of the sector, reflecting the technical, regulatory, and social challenges that shape mining restoration performance in the 21st century.
CIREM pursues a clear mission: to build, together, a mining restoration that is more effective, innovative, and aligned with nature, strengthening collaboration among stakeholders and raising the sector’s technical standard.
Call for papers until 26 March
The Scientific Committee is keeping the period for receiving communications open until 26 March 2026.
Professionals, researchers, universities, companies, and public administrations are invited to submit technical papers, studies, projects, case studies, and applied experiences that contribute to raising the standard of mining restoration.
Proposals may be framed within six major thematic areas:
- Mine closures, governance and valorisation of post-mining areas
- Ecological restoration in mining
- Geomorphological design, ground stability and hydrology
- Water and soil management and geochemical remediation
- Revegetation, passive restoration and best practices in Natura 2000
- Innovation, technology and digitalisation
The papers, projects, studies, case studies, and experiences related to mining restoration that are to be shared will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee and will make up the bulk of the Congress programme, which, in general, will be presented in oral format.
