WHAT IS THE RMC

Learn about our organization

The Mine and Quarry Restoration Network (RedRMC) is an initiative that brings together professionals from the extractive sector, public administrations, scientists, and third-sector entities with the aim of promoting sustainable practices in the restoration of areas affected by mining. It emerged in 2019 as a result of collaboration and knowledge exchange among professionals from the main stakeholders involved in the mining and environmental sector. After several years of sharing experiences, at the end of 2023, RedRMC was established as a non-profit organization, reaffirming its commitment to transform the footprint of mining into resilient and prosperous landscapes.

The main purpose of RedRMC is to advance towards more responsible and sustainable mining, supporting the mining sector and public administrations in their development, facilitating knowledge transfer and promoting collaboration among all stakeholders involved. To this end, RedRMC organizes and participates in training, outreach, and transfer activities. Furthermore, it promotes the implementation of good ecological restoration practices and the development of models that integrate restoration into mining planning from its initial phases, in order to improve the environmental and economic impact of mining activity.
